Could this be the prettiest EVER vintage skirt?

Vintage skirts are always popular, and I think after selling vintage for over 5 years I have pretty much seen them all. From 1950's circle skirts to 1980's gothic lace skirts, and 1940's tailored military skirts to 1970's hippy maxi skirts and absolutely everything in between!

But when I came across this little beauty, there was a definite jaw-touching-floor moment...

Is this not just the prettiest skirt you have ever seen?! Believe it or not it was actually made in the 1980's but it has a much more classic vintage feel. The cream faux silk is adorned with a delicate print of florals, fans and bows in pastel blue, pink and lemon. And it's finished perfectly with delicate pleats and a neat zip and button waist.

Measurements are 28" on the waist and the length so this would fit a UK size 8/10. And at £28 I think one of you might be snaffling it pretty quickly! Did I mention it is in exquisite condition?!

PS you can buy it here, now! http://www.myvintage.co.uk/vintageskirts/beautiful-pastel-floral-fan-print-mid-length-vintage-skirt-uk-size-810.html

(Made in) Chelsea Boots...

There is a definite chill in the air and I can almost smell autumn... I have to admit that it is my favourite time of year and I always prefer autumn/winter fashions to spring/summer. I also have a bit of a thing for boots, and I am a HUGE fan of the Chelsea boots cropping up here there and everywhere at the moment...

I think I may have fallen head over heels (pardon the pun) in love with these floral print beauties from ASOS...

Asos ATHENS Leather Chelsea Boots - £50
I think £50 is a good price for real leather and I just love them. Affordable whilst still being a bit quirky. Perfect with jeans, leggings or tights and maybe even cute with a little dress. I was hovering over the BUY button when I remembered I had seen some cute (and very cheap) alternatives in Matalan the other day. I had actually gone in to look at Back to School stuff but had been sidetracked by more interesting things (this happens frequently with me)

Anyway, I am not normally a huge fan of Matalan but I think these snake print Chelsea Boots are gorgeous...

Chelsea Boots in Snake - Matalan - £10
They are now in the sale at an amazing £10! There is also an awesome electric blue animal print version that I love. Decisions decisions!

SOOO what do you think? Which Chelsea Boots do you prefer? Or do you hate this trend? Let me know!

1940's Day!

Saturday 1st September is 1940's day in Darwen!

The purpose of the event is to raise money for ABF Soldier Charity. There will be all kinds of FREE entertainment including the Houghton Weavers, Accrington Pipe Band, Linda Dee, Billy Bedlam, Ricky Lee, Carley Miller, “Bernese Dancers” from Blackburn and if that's not enough there will be 1940's films to watch in the “Palladium“ aka The Bridgewater pub!

So with this in mind, I have been busy getting the shop all forty-fied (see what I did there?) and I dug out some truly stunning original 1940's vintage clothing to display (and sell of course)... Here are some snaps of my window...

I am loving these pics already!

But my pièce de résistance has got to be my lady mannequin (we like to call her Betty) who has glammed up for the occasion in some amazing vintage clothing and vintage accessories...

As mannequins go I think so looks pretty darn gorgeous!!

Tomorrow I am going to get other bits and bobs ready in the shop, bits of bunting and a rather fetching display of vintage brooches, vintage scarves, vintage shoes, vintage handbags, vintage compacts and vintage pearls. I will let you see when it's done!

As always, you can find original 1940's vintage clothing on the website www.myvintage.co.uk and I will be taking lots of snaps of the vintage beauties that pop into the shop on Saturday and share them with you all!

A new chapter begins...

Hello all, thanks for dropping by to read my ramblings! Some of you follow me on Twitter and Facebook, others may not know me very well at all, but I wanted to share a few things with you as I take my blog in a new direction. I hope you enjoy!

For a while now I have wanted to get into blogging properly, I've always had a bit something to say but have never really got my teeth into it. Today I embark on my proper bona fide real actual blogging journey!

I will of course still be featuring lots of delightful vintage treasures from www.myvintage.co.uk but I will also be bringing you finds from further afield, including my favourite fashion, beauty and home decor from around the world. Plus sizes will have a say too! I will also be collaborating with other bloggers to bring you interesting and witty guest posts on a myriad of different topics. And you might get a bit of everyday mutterings thrown in for good measure!

The story so far...
So, as you know, my baby (apart from the rather handsome young boy who lives in my house) is my vintage clothing website www.myvintage.co.uk which was born about 4 years ago. Since then we have grown from selling a couple of vintage frocks from our back room, to having literally one of the largest ranges of vintage clothing, vintage accessories, vintage jewellery, retro clothing, retro and kitsch jewellery and vintage homeware in the UK! 2012 began with a few troubles, between illness and technical issues things were a little too stressful for a while! However, things were sorted and then a couple of months ago, purely by chance, we were presented with the opportunity to take on our first ever retail shop. Things happened very quickly and we had some VERY long days, but all the pieces of the jigsaw came together and we opened My Vintage at 2 The Circus in Darwen, Lancashire, about 4 weeks ago! The response has been brilliant, I've already met lots and lots of wonderful people from a real diverse mix of ages and backgrounds. The reaction has been very positive and the overall opinion of local community is relief that there is finally something fresh and vibrant in the area. I for one am very proud of what we have achieved, and we have only scratched the surface. The next phase is to take the website to the next level and continue to grow our customer base both locally and all over the world. It would be great if you could connect via Twitter and Facebook too, here are the links incase you don't have them...

Ooooh, I nearly forgot, to mark this milestone and fresh beginning I thought I would give you 5 (possibly not so) interesting facts about me! Feel free to reciprocate as I would love to hear more about you!

1. I have 3 cats and one very big dog. I think animals are nothing short of brilliant.
2. When I was 4, my dad died suddenly. He was live on BBC Radio Lancashire at the time doing an interview about his charity. He always said he'd go out with a bang!
3. I adore all things vintage but I do have a penchant for the 1960's and think I might have been a mod in a previous life.
4. I like love cake. A bit too much!
5. If I do say so myself, I am a darned good cook, skills which have been passed down to me by my (very clever) mummy.

So there we have it - Chapter 1 complete! I'd love for you to drop me a comment and spread the word to your friends.
