Our (exciting) Official Promo Video for My Vintage!

I was really excited recently when I was given to opportunity to create an official promotional video for My Vintage.

The man behind the video is Andrew Davies, who runs Hershel Productions and he was absolutely great. He made the whole experience really easy and really enjoyable and I for one am super pleased with the result!

The video gives you a great insight into our vintage shop in Darwen, as well as of course the website at www.myvintage.co.uk

So without further ado, here is the finished piece!

I would absolutely love to know what you think of this video, so drop me a comment below!

Until tomorrow!

SS 2013 Trend Spotlight - Quirky Prints

Quirkiness. We love it and here at My Vintage we make sure we embrace it. I have always loved quirky and unusual prints on fabric, and items of vintage that are just a bit different. So I am thrilled to see lots more quirky, fun, silly and retro style prints hitting the high street for Spring!

I have done all the hard work for you and have found a bunch of fab offerings from some of our online favourites. And I have also delved into the virtual rails and found some amazing one of a kind vintage pieces from www.myvintage.co.uk that fit the bill perfectly!

First up is Wilma and Winston - a brand I found out about via Cherry Healey. Cherry posted the infamous hot dog sweater on Twitter and I was immediately in love! Sadly it's since sold out but you can still get this equally awesome burger jumper...

Burger Jumper - Wilma + Winston - £25

I know it's a bit of (OK a lot of) a splurge... but the scenic print on this Peter Jensen dress is just soooo beautiful... available at ASOS.

This palm tree print blazer from River Island is everything that makes me smile - it's bright and silly, just what spring should be! AND it's in the sale! Bargain!

Topshop have come up trumps with this cute pleated skirt. At first glance they may look like dark florals but on further inspection, they are actual panther heads! Yes, really!

I also had to include this amazing crossword t-shirt from Jameela Jamil for Very... I just love it!

Jameela Jamil Crossword Print T-Shirt - Very - £18
Now for some vintage! Quirky printed vintage makes my world go round... it also doesn't hang around for long so if you love it, grab it!

First up is this cuter than cute vintage scarf. It's printed with children's drawings which is just wonderful for anyone, whether you have kids or still feel like one!

Kids Sketch Vintage Scarf - My Vintage - £18

From part of our brand new retro range, this bambi print blouse is stunning! Available in dusky pink or navy blue, this just screams vintage Babycham!

This vintage designer shirt from Armani has the cutest and quirkiest equestrian inspired print - and the grey tone are very versatile and classy.

Perfect for summer holidays, this cartoon print playsuit is cute, girly and uber 80s - we love a bit of eighties vintage!

And the final slot just had to go to this brilliant jungle print vintage dress! Another stroke of 80s genius, this mix of cartoon animals and pastel shades has got to be in your Spring wardrobe, right?

SS 2013 Trend Spotlight - Oriental

Over the next few days I am going to be highlighting all the key trends for Spring and Summer 2013. For each of my Trend Spotlights I bring you key pieces from the collection at www.myvintage.co.uk as well as some great high street and designer finds.

So let's get started! Today I'm looking at a beautiful collection of Oriental inspired fashion... In the SS 2013 shows we saw Oriental offerings from Prada, Lanvin, Pucci and Galliano to name but a few.

Japanese florals, heavy embellished silks, loose kimono shapes and Oriental graphics have all featured. But this is a look that can be done at any point of the spectrum. You can of course go all out with manderin collar Chinese dresses, but with something as simple as a scarf or handbag, you can make a subtle nod to this opulent trend.

Here are some of my favourite high street offerings at the moment...

Quilted Printed Jacket -  Miss Selfridge - £59.00

Oriental Print Jogger Trousers - River Island - £20

Kimono Cloud Shell Top - Oasis - £38

Oriental Bird Print Snood - Topshop - £18

Some really cute pieces that can be combined with block colour basics or clashed with other prints to create a great Spring look.

As for vintage, we have some really lovely pieces in at the moment that have Oriental inspired shape or prints, and here are my top 3...

This gorgeous vintage dress from the 1970s has fabulous wide kimono sleeves and a bold floral print in stunning rust and teal shades. It is simply divine!

Vintage 1970s Rust & Teal Bold Floral Kimono Maxi Dress 12/14 - £38
This jade green vintage top from the 1980s has a real oriental feel. Satin/silk feel fabric with intricate piped detail - it's beautiful...

Vintage 1980s Jade Green Oriental Silk Feel Top Size 10/12 - £25

And finally, we have this full Chinese vintage dress in deep hypnotic blue. It's authentic and timeless, something to treasure...

Vintage 1980s Deep Blue Oriental Gown with Silvery Florals Size 12 - £40
So there we have it, my Oriental wonders that are good enough to send your head spinning!

But what do you think? Anything you love or hate? And if you've seen any other Oriental fashion please share it with us!

I'll be back tomorrow with another Trend Spotlight!
