A good old catch up!

Morning all!

So it's been a hectic few weeks here at My Vintage. At the end of September we had loads of new stock arrive in time for Ladies Night so we were busy beavering away getting that ready for everyone...

Ladies Night arrived on 2nd October and WOW what a busy night we had! From 6pm until late our lovely shop was filled to the rafters with excited, cocktail sipping ladies (who all have excellent taste in clothes shops I must say!) The delicious ginormous cupcakes from local legends Darwen Deli went down a storm too! Everyone got a nice little discount at the till and it was definitely one of our best nights yet. Thank you to every single one of you that came along to join us. We will be holding another one in November so we hope to see you there!

It's also been mega busy at home this week as my son celebrated his 9th birthday at the weekend. I am still struggling with the idea that I have a 9 year old (eeek!) but he had a wonderful day and we all thoroughly enjoyed seeing him so happy and having so much fun :)
The website has been really busy too and we have been adding lots of new things. It's always worth checking the What's New section as we add new items to the site nearly every day. And always a great mix of both original vintage clothing, retro and reproduction clothing, fabulous costume jewellery and vintage and collectables for the home.

Our most exciting new arrivals have landed this week from the USA. A stunning selection of retro dresses, skirts and top in really quirky and fun printed fabrics. They are already proving to be VERY popular and we absolutely love them!

I recently uploaded a video to showcase a few of the different styles that have arrived... They are even better in the flesh but I just had to give you a sneak preview!

The items are being added to the website as we speak, and here are some of my absolute favourites...

For more information on any of these items for for general questions or enquiries, just email me on emma@myvintage.co.uk or find me on Twitter or our Facebook page.

See you soon!

Metallic Trend 2013 the My Vintage Way!

Metallics are big news right now but fear not! This super shiny trend isn't as scary as it might sound...

The key word when it comes to wearing metallic is subtle.

Unless your name is Jessie J, who has got to be one of the only people to carry off this head to toe metallic look...

We have scoured the virtual rails at www.myvintage.co.uk and found some fabulous metallic vintage pieces that are a great way to inject this trend into your A/W wardrobe whilst keeping that all important unique twist.

1980s Vintage Metallic Strand Evening Gown
1980s Vintage Blue Metallic Scarf
1950s Vintage Metallic 2 Piece Suit
1980s Vintage Metallic Skirt
1980s Vintage Gold Metallic Blouse

Add these to more neutral toned down pieces to create a gorgeous look that is right on trend but still individual and totally unique to you.

For more vintage clothing online visit www.myvintage.co.uk or check our our Facebook or Twitter pages.

Bye for now!

Top UK Retail Website Accreditation!

Chances are you haven't heard of Sitemorse, but what they do is actually very clever.

They are an independent organisation with a unique software platform that allows them to analyse websites for overall compliance, quality and usability.

Every quarter they publish a list of the top 500 retail websites in the UK - a league table for online shops if you will.

Now the exciting bit...

Our lovely little website has only gone and been placed at number 71... 71st place out of ALL the retail websites in the UK - that's a lot of websites!

We're also the only vintage website in the report. It's actually pretty flabbergasting when you think about it deeply. Little old us!

What puts this all into perspective is some of the companies that we have ranked higher than...

Next
Kurt Geiger
Armani
H&M
River Island
New Look
Debenhams
Harvey Nichols
Matalan
Oasis
Mulberry

I could go on...

But our lovely little online vintage and retro haven has beat them all!

You wouldn't normally expect to feel proud about coming 71st in anything, but when you look at the whole picture here it really has got us beaming from ear to ear!

Thanks for all your continued support and custom. We will continue to get bigger and better, keep telling your friends, Facebook pals and Twitter followers about us.

Here's the link you need to visit us anytime... www.myvintage.co.uk

Over and out!

SS 2013 Trend Spotlight - Oriental

Over the next few days I am going to be highlighting all the key trends for Spring and Summer 2013. For each of my Trend Spotlights I bring you key pieces from the collection at www.myvintage.co.uk as well as some great high street and designer finds.

So let's get started! Today I'm looking at a beautiful collection of Oriental inspired fashion... In the SS 2013 shows we saw Oriental offerings from Prada, Lanvin, Pucci and Galliano to name but a few.

Japanese florals, heavy embellished silks, loose kimono shapes and Oriental graphics have all featured. But this is a look that can be done at any point of the spectrum. You can of course go all out with manderin collar Chinese dresses, but with something as simple as a scarf or handbag, you can make a subtle nod to this opulent trend.

Here are some of my favourite high street offerings at the moment...

Quilted Printed Jacket -  Miss Selfridge - £59.00

Oriental Print Jogger Trousers - River Island - £20

Kimono Cloud Shell Top - Oasis - £38

Oriental Bird Print Snood - Topshop - £18

Some really cute pieces that can be combined with block colour basics or clashed with other prints to create a great Spring look.

As for vintage, we have some really lovely pieces in at the moment that have Oriental inspired shape or prints, and here are my top 3...

This gorgeous vintage dress from the 1970s has fabulous wide kimono sleeves and a bold floral print in stunning rust and teal shades. It is simply divine!

Vintage 1970s Rust & Teal Bold Floral Kimono Maxi Dress 12/14 - £38
This jade green vintage top from the 1980s has a real oriental feel. Satin/silk feel fabric with intricate piped detail - it's beautiful...

Vintage 1980s Jade Green Oriental Silk Feel Top Size 10/12 - £25

And finally, we have this full Chinese vintage dress in deep hypnotic blue. It's authentic and timeless, something to treasure...

Vintage 1980s Deep Blue Oriental Gown with Silvery Florals Size 12 - £40
So there we have it, my Oriental wonders that are good enough to send your head spinning!

But what do you think? Anything you love or hate? And if you've seen any other Oriental fashion please share it with us!

I'll be back tomorrow with another Trend Spotlight!
